Mesa 17.1, the next big release for open source graphics drivers on Linux is closing in on release. The third release candidate is now available for testing.
OpenRA is easily one of my favourite open source projects. It allows us to play early Westwood RTS games like Red Alert and Dune 2000 in a modern engine on Linux. The latest release is a good one too.
OpenLara was pointed out to me as it's an open source game engine to run classic Tomb Raider titles on Linux, it also has a WebGL support and a demo to show it off in-browser.

Strife: Quest for the Sigil was both a critical and commercial disappointment for Rogue Entertainment in 1996, and the source code to the game was mislaid by its developers. Years later work begin on reverse engineering Strife using the released Doom code. Night Dive Studios would later use this community project to craft The Original Strife: Veteran Edition.
